The Most Common Weight Loss Mistakes

Most of us know someone who works out obsessively, logging serious hours at the gym and berating herself after eating the occasional cookie. How many of us have gone on fad diets and then complained when the weight came back? Every year, countless people try to lose weight with minimal lasting success. These people are dedicated to their goals, but haven’t found a tried-and-true method for shedding pounds and—the hardest part of all—keeping them off.

San Francisco was voted one of… Continue

10 Things Millionaires Won't Tell You

1. "You may think I'm rich, but I don't."

A million dollars may sound like a fortune to most people, and folks with that much cash can't complain — they're richer than 90 percent of U.S. households and earn $366,000 a year, on average, putting them in the top 1 percent of taxpayers. But the club isn't so exclusive anymore. Some 10 million households have a net worth above $1 million, excluding home equity, almost double the number in 2002. Moreover, a recent survey by Fidelity… Continue

No time for Bricks...

The Brick!!

Read this today and don't delete it even if you are too busy!! You'll see.

A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something. As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door!

He slammed on the… Continue

Emotional Intimacy

Notes to Myself: Emotional Intimacy

I went to the swimming pool with my girlfriends on Sunday. While we lounged by the pool I shared with them this book that I am reading about emotional distancing and fear of intimacy. The book broke it down into categorizes and I read to them each area. Each one of us were able to relate to an area where we tend to distance ourselves in relationships. We were also able to identify other people in our lives… Continue

Fear of Love

If you knew you loved me and that we were meant to be together, would you act any differently? If you are afraid that the past would keep you from loving unconditionally, what are you willing to give up so as not to sabotage what you have now?

These are questions to ponder as we so often are afraid of letting go in case we aren't right? What of it is right? Would we rather entertain the fears or would it be to our advantage to take that chance, especially when we know deep down that… Continue

Happiness is a Choice

We all have choices in life. Everywhere we look we have them.

Regular or decaf?

Regular or high test? Who remembers ethyl?

Even Burger King says to have it your way.

Everywhere we look we are challenged with choices.

What about the important choice in life. Did you know that we are faced with a very important choice every day and it is probably the most important choice that we can make and the good news is we get to do it every day. The choice to be happy. Now I… Continue

I will never win an award for running (unless you consider slowest marathoner of all time an award) but I finish what I start, be that projects or marathons. So the last month has been a puzzle. I cut short 2 long runs and completely bonked on a 10 miler. The last 20 minutes of my aikido class was spent pouring cold water over my head and watching my arm vibrate like it was in an electrical socket. And these were not the most disturbing things.

My memory is usually very sharp. My… Continue

Daily Tips for Staying Fit: Get Moving!

It was not too long ago that obesity was not the raging universal health problem that it is today - partly because we all used to have more physical activity in our lives.

To help curb this problem, what if we stopped thinking so much about "starting an exercise program," and concentrated more on increasing our physical activity, moving more throughout the day? Undoubtedly, we would see results like weight loss and a decrease in illnesses. So let’s consider simple ways to become less… Continue

How to make real connections online

I often wonder about the effectiveness of social media

I do not spend a lot of time in chats or forums and to be honest really don't like typing that much so blogging is a huge chore for me.

As I explore this virtual word of social networks I am very aware that most of the communications I receive are simply pitches for someones product, service or class.

I hardly ever get more than a one liner in response to any post or question I have ever asked and most comments on any post in… Continue

Some of you might have seen this before~I was touched by this story and wanted to post it.

In the words of the cab driver~

When my taxicab drove up at 2:30 a.m., the building was dark except for a single light in a ground floor window.

Under these circumstances, many taxi drivers would just honk once or twice, wait a minute, and then drive away.

But I had seen too many impoverished people who depended on taxis as… Continue

5 Reasons to Start the Day with a Workout

Exercising at any time of day is beneficial. But as a recent convert, I believe there are more positive outcomes of morning exercise compared to working out later at night. If you can make the commitment to get out of bed a little earlier than usual, you might find that it rewards other parts of your life besides cardiovascular health.

1. Better Performance at Work

It’s no secret that a hard workout can decrease our stress levels. When we begin our day by exercising, the… Continue

I Can Only Imagine

When I first heard about this event, it sounded incredible. I can only imagine what it would be like to do it, to finish, to cross that line. So I said “Let’s do it!”

What’s So Great About Being in Your Body

Forget out of body experience—how about an embodied experience?

Have you ever seen people walking down the street, talking to themselves? Some people will say that these people have lost their minds; I’d say they are simply “lost in their minds.” To tell you the truth, visit the financial district of Anytown, USA and you may have seen a whole flock of these folk during lunch hour, although they are not speaking out loud. They are still “lost in their minds,” half out of their… Continue
